Anatrofobia is a project born in 1991 in Perosa Canavese (TO-Italy). The name of the group which, literally means "Fear of Ducks", comes from a strip of the American cartoonist Gary Larson.

In 1994 the members of the group: Luca Cartolari, Alessandro Cartolari (disciple of Carlo Actis Dato) and Andrea Biondello began to experiment with writing, improvisation, acoustic and electronics. The trio recorded the tracks of the first CD: "Frammenti di durata", released in December 1997 for the label C.M.C. (Art studio, Actis Dato Quartet, Enten Eller) in Turin.

In the winter of 1998 Mario Simeoni (formerly part of the group Enten Eller) joined the family. Between February and March, 1999 Anatrofobia recorded its second CD: "Ruote che girano a vuoto" distributed by Audioglobe. This new CD set forth the interest of the group towards popular music. The choral improvisations take the role of emotional appropriations of the multiple thematic contents.

After a series of concerts throughout Italy, the band recorded the third chapter of the Anatro-Story :"Uno Scoiattolo in Mezzo ad un Autostrada”. This third CD was completely recorded and mixed by the Cartolari brothers in their MediaDucks studios in Perosa Canavese. The Cd was published in April, 2001 by the active Wallace Records label (Short Apnea, Zu…), and has received the “Premio Darwin 2001” as the best Italian CD of the year, with the unanimous approval of specialized music magazine critics and radios.
 
The group recorded in 2002, after a hard work in the MediaDucks studio, “Le cose non parlano” the 4th CD (Wallace Records), with the collaboration of two prestigious Italian musicians: Alessio Pisani (bassoon), and Roberto Sassi (elect. guitar).
The band began the nth tour of concerts in Italy and Europe for the promotion of the new CD, receiving again, unanimous approval and came in second in “Premio Darwin 2002”.
In summer 2003 Anatrofobia arranged and recorded a tribute to King Crimson, published in next fall by Mellow Records.
In winter 2003 Anatrofobia recorded “Tesa Musica Marginale”, out in April 2004, promoted by a European tour in quintet with Pisani and Sassi.
 
In 2005 the group participated to the experimental music collection: “Suono Sonda 4” (M. Feldman, G. Kurtag ) with the music piece “L’ultimo grande statista”
In 2006 the group participated to the music collection: “BääFest: 1stand2ndyeardiary” (Ebria Records) with the music piece “Mi prenderò cura di te” and they began to work hard with live-electronics, programming and free improvisation
 
In 2007 recorded “Brevi Momenti di presenza”, out in October 2007. This CD is a new beginning. Anatrofobia abandon their personal jazz-rock style. Now, their music is a new synthesis of acoustic and live-electronics, structured and aleatoric sounds, programming and free improvisation.
